Mountain Riders

Both tours begin with hotel or cruise ship pickup and a van tour to the summit of Haleakala. Certified tour guides provide you with a history of Haleakala, its geology, and an explanation of rare plants and animals only found on Maui. Upon arrival at the summit you'll be escorted to the crater rim for spectacular views of the most colorful dormant volcano in the world. While at the summit you'll get a continental breakfast (hot coffee, juice, and pastries) and receive a comprehensive safety briefing and an informative tour of the park. Your tour proceeds to the 6700 foot level just outside the park boundary where you will be expertly fitted to your bicycle and begin your 29 mile ride down the slopes of Haleakala, including the famous series of switchbacks and upcountry Kula. You will stop at Sunrise Protea Farm for a deli lunch which is included in the price of the tour (an Adventuremaui.com exclusive). Following lunch you will finish your ride through the sugar cane and pineapple fields ... continuing on to the Pacific Ocean and ending at Paia beach park. The Tour proceeds to the 6,500 foot level of Haleakala where clients are expertly fitted to their bicycles and begin their 28-mile bike ride down the slopes of Haleakala, continuing thru the switchbacks, and Haleakala Ranch. Tour stops at Sunrise Market and Protea Farm for a NO-HOST lunch. The ride of a lifetime continues down through Kula, Makawao, Hailiimaile and to the Pacific Ocean ending at Paia Beach Park. | |

Haleakala Sunrise JourneyThe Sunrise Journey is our most popular bicycle tour and has very limited capacity due to new park regulations. YOU MUST BOOK YOUR TOUR IN ADVANCE. Self-paced with Van TourTour includes a van tour of the National Park along with 28 miles of biking at your own comfortable pace. Following your tour of the House of the Sun Visitor Center and Haleakala Visitor Center you will bike from 6,500 feet elevation and end at Paia Bay Beach Park in the town of Paia. Clients meet our tour guides at Starbucks Coffee in the Maui Market Place (Kahului) at 7:45 a.m. Transportation to the summit, a continental breakfast (coffee & pastries) served enroute to the summit, Volcano Chrome Cruiser bikes, helmet, Columbia Sportswear windbreaker pants and jacket, gloves and backpacks are provided. Upon completion of your bike ride, shuttle service back to Starbucks Coffee will be provided. Departure times from Paia Beach Park are 1:30pm, 2:00pm, and 2:30pm. Riders arriving to Paia after 3:00 p.m. will be charged a $20.00 per person pick-up fee. | |
